But speaking Spanish feels like such a chore...until Enrique finds himself in a situation where his bilingual skills become life-saving. J
Juliana -The Bilingual Mom Life
Heartfelt and relatable

I really connected with this book because it reminded me of when I used to translate for my mom when I was younger. Now, I see something similar with my daughter, who has a tía from Colombia that only speaks Spanish. The book captures so well the ups and downs of the pressure to translate in different situations—something that feels relatable across generations. I especially appreciate how it gives voice to the emotions that come with translating, and I think it can help bilingual children both express their own feelings and develop empathy for others.

The title says it all!

Uncle Ricky comes to visit but he doesn't know English. All day long his young nephew must translate for him, but speaking Spanish is hard! I loved the message of this story about how family needs to help each other, but as an English speaker living in Mexico I understand the struggle all too well. The art and story are wonderful. This is just fantastic for kids from cross-cultural homes. I also appreciate the Spanish practice.

Sweet story!

Such a sweet story! Enrique uses his language to save the day and learns to be proud of who he is and that being bilingual is a special gift. Highly recommend for any classroom or home library.

Beautifully told story

This book is not only beautifully written and illustrated but tells a very important story that many children growing up bilingual will see themselves in (adults too!) This book will be invaluable for starting conversations with children about their bilingualism, how they can view it in different ways, and how they can use it to help those around them. A great addition for your home or classroom library!
