Type: Books

This bilingual picture book helps promote courage and fearlessness. Children will learn about the unexpected friendships that can blossom from unlikely encounters, encouraging little ones to be open-minded and accepting of others.

Inspired by the true story of a childhood dream that Guillermo del Toro has shared in many public interviews, Kid del Toro tells the story of a curious boy who has an unruly obsession with monster books. In the dead of night, he needs his books to keep him company, but finds a monster lurking in his bedroom. He must face his fears or risk Abuela taking his books away—forever!

* This is an independently authored and published account of a childhood experience of Guillermo del Toro as heard through public interviews, and no affiliation with or endorsement by Mr. Del Toro is claimed or implied.

Love this story and art details!

My toddler loves scary stories before bed time and when ever I read him this book I always ask him, do you want me to read it in Spanish or English? He thinks it’s hilarious that abuela looks like a monster.
