It’s been 22 years since the tragic death of our beloved Selena Quintanilla, and her star power continues to shine as bright as ever.

Selena’s impact on the world has forever left us indebted to keeping her legacy alive. Spreading her story, beautiful music and charisma to generations for come is so important- that’s why we were thrilled to learn that a new bilingual children’s book is on the way, and it’s all about the late Queen of Tejano!

Latina BFFS Patty Rodriguez and Ariana Stein created “Lil Libros,” a series of bilingual children’s books, when they realized they were unable to find any they could enjoy reading to their own children. The dynamic duo recently announced that their latest release will be titled, "The Life of / La Vida De Selena: A Lil' Libros Bilingual Biography," and its message is seriously beautiful.

The announcement on Instagram was captioned, “This is our way of saying thank you, Selena. Thank you for your music, energy, and love. The love you had for us - your community. But most importantly thank you for allowing us to dream just like you did.”

“This is how we can thank you. By never forgetting you; by sharing your smile, music, and life with our children. By reminding them that you were us.

“That you loved and sang in two languages. That wherever you went you were proud of who you were and where you came from. By keeping you part of our family just like our parents did when you were here. This is for you. Thank you.”

Especially recently, it’s been amazing to see all of the well-deserved recognition Selena has received. MAC Cosmetics dropped their Selena Quintanilla line last fall, and Google dedicated its homepage to her on the 28th anniversary of her debut album. Just last week, Selena FINALLY received her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and the ceremony almost made us shed tears of joy. Let's not forget that every year, Selena’s memory is brought back to life as people all over the world decide to honor her for Halloween.

And now, we thank Lil Libros, for expanding the way young people can reach her story! The book is expected to be released on March 6, 2018.
